Open UX #20 - Beyond Research Theatre
·OnlineOnlineSo many of us have been there: research that exists to rubber-stamp pre-made decisions; and organisations that say they’re "user-centred" but ignore uncomfortable findings.
This 1 hour roundtable discussion is a space for practicing UX/UI designers, researchers & product folk who are tired of rubber-stamp research and want their work to have real impact.
Come swap stories and learnings about:
- When research & workshops were just there to legitimise a direction, or were ignored
- The best and worst ways you’ve seen research findings communicated
- How small design decisions can affect systems, teams or users in surprising ways
Plus "what do we do about it?", exploring:
- What to do when “insights” are welcomed but actions are blocked
- Simple tools that help teams think in wider impact, not just screens
- Quick wins for making insights more actionable without a 40-slide deck
There are no presentations, invited experts or gurus – just a lightly facilitated conversation among peers. Bring your own stories, frustrations and hacks. (And snacks.)
Who's it for?
UX/UI designers, researchers and product owners with some real-world experience in teams or client work. You don’t need to be a research specialist. How to take part
