So many of us have been there: hired as the UX expert but decisions are already made. Research is ignored, timelines are fixed and your role becomes delivery rather than direction.

So how do you actually practice UX when you don’t have influence?

This is a 1 hour roundtable discussion and thinking space for working freelance + solo UX/UI designers.

Come swap stories and learnings about:

  • Times when you knew the right thing to do but couldn’t make it happen
  • Where to find actual points of influence on a project (title, trust, timing, relationships)
  • Small moves to shift decisions, even slightly
  • When is it better to push… and when is it better to let go?

Plus "what do we do about it?", exploring:

  • Concrete tactics for increasing influence
  • A clearer sense of what’s in our control vs not

There are no presentations, invited experts or gurus just a lightly facilitated conversation among peers. Bring your own stories, frustrations and hacks. (And snacks.)

Who's it for?
Working freelance designers - or UX-ers working in a team of one - with real-world experience in delivery and client work.
