OpenBao Webinar: Sovereign Secrets Management
Details
Hey everyone 👋
For anyone working with secrets management: there's a solid online session on OpenBao coming up, and I didn't want to leave it unmentioned in this group.
Quick recap for those who don't know OpenBao yet: it's an open source fork of Vault, fully API-compatible. That means a real drop-in replacement — your `vault` calls, auth methods, secret engines, policies, and existing tooling (Terraform/OpenTofu provider, agent, CSI, Kubernetes auth) keep working the way you're used to. No client-count licensing, no black boxes, and you keep everything under your own control. OpenBao sits under the Linux Foundation and is listed in the European Commission's Open Source catalogue as a building block for digital sovereignty.
In this one-hour session, the Adfinis engineers who build and maintain OpenBao will walk you through the practical side:
- How OpenBao is built and where it fits in your platform stack
- Deployment across on-premise, cloud, and hybrid — HA, storage backends, and what you actually hit in production
- Migration path from Vault and how API compatibility plays out in practice
- What NIS2 concretely means for credential management and access control
- Live Q&A — bring your edge cases and "but does this also work with..." questions
Nice chance to spar with the core contributors instead of just reading issues on GitHub.
Speakers:
- Coen Hamers — Country Manager, Adfinis
- Roel de Cort — DevOps Engineer, Adfinis (policy/namespace design, K8s, GitOps, OpenTofu)
- Robert de Bock — Linux DevOps Architect, Adfinis
