What we're about

These classes and workshops are a way towards embodiment. Give yourself the freedom to move your body, release inhibitions and be yourself just as you are in each moment. There are no steps to learn, instead we learn to listen to ourselves.

Whatever your age, ability, fitness or experience of dance, you are very welcome. All you need is willingness, curiosity and a desire to move.

ReSource - Wednesdays

Online event

ReSource - an online ongoing group with Sarah Davies Ten weeks: ⫸Wednesday 5–6.30pm BST, 6–7.30pm CET 9–10.30am PDT, 12–1.30pm EDT ✶OR✶ ⫸Thursday 9–10.30am BST, 10–11.30 CET, 5.30–7pm ACST, 8–9.30pm NZST ⫸Starting 16 / 17th September until 18 / 19th November At this point in 2020 many of us are looking for ways to recover, reassess and realign ourselves, finding our place back in this ‘new normal’. ReSource; how can our dance aid, support and lead us into a resourced place? Looking at the word differently, re-source, the source, the beginning, the place of origin. My hunch is that this source is the place we resource ourselves, nourish our souls, tend to our spirits, nurture our life force. The Core Movement Resources that we utilise in Open Floor are: Activate & Settle, Centre, Dissolve, Expand & Contract, Ground, Pause, Release, Spatial Awareness, Towards & Away and Vector. Each of these movement resources can help us learn about our own embodiment as well as offering us tools to resource on the dancefloor and also in our daily lives. In each hour and a half session there’ll be time for dancing (nearly an hour) and about 20 mins for resourcing, whatever that might be for anyone. It may be time for creativity, meditating, reading, resting. For each of us what is resourcing may look very different, it may be none of those things I’ve mentioned, an impulse might arise in the moment, perhaps inspired by the ‘Core Movement Resource’ of the week and the ability to really tune in to what you need after dancing. I will be showing some images and offering an idea for an art exercise for those that want to do that. ⫸ Online: we will use Zoom. These sessions will not be recorded, it’ll be live, in-the-moment. However the music will be recorded for you to access later should you wish, also the link imagery that Sarah shows will also be available to you. ⫸ Cost: £160 / Concessions & Open Floor Teachers £144. Either pay £50 deposit to secure your place and pay the balance one week before the start of the group, or pay the full amount up front, or in pre-arranged installments. You pay the full amount even if you miss a session. When booking please state if you are booking for Wednesday or Thursday. You can pay directly to: paypal.me/SarahDanceDavies or contact me for bank transfer details. There are currently still places in both groups. ⫸ Group Size: There will be a limit on group size, a minimum of 9 and a maximum of 20 in each group, enough people to dance together and feel the support and inspiration of each other and time enough for group sharing. You don’t need to have any prior experience of movement to join this group, beginners welcome and also those with experience welcome. ⫸What you get from joining this group: ● Embodiment practice, from your own home, connected online ● Each week a focus on one of the Core Movement Resources ● Time to explore how you get resourced, nourished & replenished straight after dancing (using the dance as a gateway to nourishment) ● A suggestion of an art exercise for those that want to do it ● Link to the soundscape of the week to relisten at any time ● Link to a resource document for each Core Movement Resource ● The support of being in an ongoing group with other committed movers. ● A private facebook group to show what is resourcing you and to be inspired by others ⫸Any questions email Sarah: [masked]

Open Floor - Friday Dancing with Sarah Davies

Forest Row Village Hall

Friday Morning Open Floor From mid September we will be starting to dance again in Peter Griffiths Hall. Please note, there are two smaller shorter groups. We'll try it like this for a few weeks and see how we get on. Ten people in each group Group 1: 9–10 am 30 mins change over Group 2: 10.30–11.30 am Tickets can only be purchased in advance, no sales on the door. Cost: £14 / £12 - early purchase is cheaper. Tickets available on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/open-floor-forest-row-tickets-119086146871 Arrive 15 mins before the start of your group. COVID safety: Please wear a mask in the building at all times except when dancing. Masks should not be worn while dancing in accordance with the World Health Organisation "People should NOT wear masks when exercising, as masks may reduce the ability to breathe comfortably. Sweat can make the mask become wet more quickly which makes it difficult to breathe and promotes the growth of microorganisms. The important preventive measure during exercise is to maintain a physical distance of at least one meter from others." original WHO information here: https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public/myth-busters Bring your own water bottle. Wear comfortable clothes to move in. Dance barefoot or in soft-soled indoor shoes. Feel free to purchase tickets in advance for the following weeks. If we have to cancel the event you will be given the option to hold the ticket until we are next open or to have your ticket refunded to you minus the Eventbrite admin fee. Through dance we learn to listen to ourselves, physically, emotionally, mindfully and soulfully. It is called a movement meditation as we bring our attention back to the body over and over again. We explore moving towards freedom, whatever that might mean for us, it can be quite intimate and personal, or wild and expansive. We're practicing flexibility of our whole selves, emotionally and soulfully as well as physically and mindfully. We start with a warm-up, and there's a clear beginning, middle and end, starting gently, building to wild energetic peaks and settling at the end.
