Saving Lives with RNLI: The Simpleweb Challenge in London!
Hosted by FreeCoding Bristol
Details
We’re thrilled to announce our first hack night in London in association with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) (http://rnli.org/) and the Marketing Agencies Association (MAA) (http://www.marketingagencies.org.uk/).
For this very special Simpleweb Challenge we’re inviting you to prototype something cool around the theme of saving lives. Remember, at the Simpleweb Challenge, YOU DON’T HAVE TO WRITE ANY CODE TO WIN!
We’re offering two prizes - one for the best working prototype (be it app, website, widget or hardware hack) and another prize for the best idea (shown though mockups, no coding required).
The rules
We’re challenging you to build something cool based around the theme of relationships.
We want The Simpleweb Challenge to be totally fair so we’re going to lay down a few ground rules…
No coding or creating mockups before the night - preparation is good, and you’re welcome to a bit of research beforehand, but you can’t have started on the code or mockups for your project until the night.
I know, I know, there’s not a lot of time, but at least we’re all in the same boat, eh?!
You can work in teams of up to 3 people. The winning team will take away an awesome prize (TBA).
Who can come?
Anyone’s welcome at the Simpleweb Challenge hacknight!
If you’re a developer, come code something cool and try to win the techie prize.
Not a developer? We recommend using Sketch or Marvel (both have free trials!) to prototype your idea. There’s a prize for the best idea!
What should I expect?
We’ll start the night with some homemade food and drinks. After that it’s time to get hacking. You’ll have about 3 hours to work on your project. We’ll keep the drinks flowing throughout!
At the end of the night, each team will get a couple of minutes to show off their idea and vote for the winner(s).
Prizes will be revealed here a few days before the night!
