What is the Social Impact Lab?

The Social Impact Lab PDX is a two-month design marathon focused on making a difference in our local community through social impact design. We are excited to be partnering with Portland Fire & Rescue this spring to help co-create community-based "blueprints" to help improve the places where we live, work, and play.

Event details

This pre-lab pitch-style event is open to the whole community, not just lab participants! You'll get the chance to hear about or pitch your own design challenge inspired by PF&R's Blueprint for Success data.
One or more challenges will become the focus for the Social Impact Lab PDX:SP19 cohort, whether or not you opt to join the full Lab as a participant.

This a perfect event for those who want to submit a design challenge for the lab or get an early preview of the design challenge for the next lab or want to submit their own blueprint-inspired design challenge.

Doors open at 6pm. Light refreshments and childcare will be available.

Who should attend?
This is an open invitation — the more the merrier! However, the event will be of particular interest to those interested in design thinking, human-centered design practices, social impact design, or the current lab challenge. No prior experience is required!

What can I expect?
This is a pitch-style event. Expect to hear from those pitching their design challenges, our expert panel of judges, as well as the lab project organizers.
