Join Us in the new year and have a chat about Open Infrastructure projects.
Ildikó Váncsa - Update on OpenStack Foundation and Open Infrastructure Events: The OpenStack Foundation opens up its focus from hosting only OpenStack to host a set of open source projects in the datacenter cloud, edge cloud, containers, DevOps and CI/CD domains. Together with this change the OpenStack Summit is transformed to a more generic event: the Open Infrastructure Summit and it will be held back-to-back with the OpenStack PTG. The talk updates on the effects of these changes to the Foundation and to OpenStack itself and gives an overview of the hosted projects.
András Kövi - Simulator for heat: Testing non-trivial heat templates requires a correctly set up heat instance and all depended services (nova, neutron, glance). As the stacks grow, so does the time it takes to test and the resources required for each run. Now imagine a test scenario with 16 stacks, each with 400+ VMs. In case of a cloud resource manager, that handles the lifecycle of those cloud entities, real resources may not be necessary at all times. Something that looks like the deployed heat stack may be just as good for capacity and stability testing. This presentation will tell some details about how a simulated environment could be created for such purposes.
Gergely Csatári - Host maintenance: How to achieve host maintenance with zero downtime on the application side. What is needed to accomplish this and which are the missing pieces?
