What is Trove? OpenStack L.A. February '15 Meetup

Details
The February 2015 OpenStack L.A. meetup is on! And, we have a real treat in store for you. Ken Rugg, CEO at Tesora, will be flying in from Cambridge, Mass (and yes, his arms will be tired!) to give the group a deep dive and update on the OpenStack Trove project.
And, please take note that to accommodate Ken's travel schedule, we will NOT be meeting on our normal meetup date (4th Thursday of the month). So, please take note of the date for this meetup, mark your calendars, and make plans to be here!
Presentation Abstract
What is Trove, the Database as a Service (DBaaS) project on OpenStack? This presentation will provide a deep dive into Trove, providing updates on new developments and how Trove supports the OpenStack Juno release. In addition, we'll provide a preview of what's planned for OpenStack Kilo and the future direction of Trove.
Providing an introduction to DBaaS, with an emphasis on OpenStack using Trove, this presentation is aimed at a very broad audience including IT Managers, CxOs, DevOps personnel, and database users, and offers a high level introduction to DBaaS, focusing on DBaaS with OpenStack Trove.
It helps answer questions such as:
· What are some major problems faced by IT and database users in the organization?
· What are the benefits of DBaaS?
· What is OpenStack Trove?
· How does Trove relate to things such as Amazon RDS, MongoHQ, Heroku, DynamoDB, HP Cloud Relational Database and Rackspace Cloud Databases?
· Should I offer DBaaS to my organization?
· What are some practical considerations in migrating to DBaaS?
It presents some practical examples of benefits achieved in adopting DBaaS, shares learnings from the adoption process, and highlights some potential pitfalls. It concludes with a description of the capabilities of OpenStack Trove and presents a view of the roadmap of features for upcoming releases.
