Join us for Art-A-Hack™: AI Art in a Time of Shifting Perspectives, a boundary-breaking hackathon hosted by the School of Visual Arts (SVA). We’re calling all artists, designers, engineers, technologists, and creative thinkers to dream big and build boldly.

Across four immersive days in June at SVA’s Graduate Center in NYC, selected participants will be matched into multidisciplinary teams to prototype projects that explore AI, emerging tech, and radical creativity. We’re seeking ideas and minds that challenge how we perceive, process, and play with technology in this rapidly transforming era.

"Shifting Perspectives" speaks not only to how AI reconfigures artistic tools, but how it challenges our frames of reference: originality, ethics, perception, and even the definition of art itself.

Participants are encouraged to interpret the theme through emotion, interaction, abstraction, speculation, satire. Whether you're building with computer vision, LLMs, generative audio, or immersive environments, this is a chance to explore how emerging technologies shift the lens through which we see the world and ourselves.

Each year, we group people together around the most compelling proposals. This means your specific idea may not be selected, in which case we will try to find you a team and a project that matches your skills and interests. This is an ad-hoc process, and we can’t always match everybody to teams, but we work hard to create aligned teams and have had great results from this process in the past.
