Field Trips - DESC

Field Trips are a series of immersive events inviting our community into local organizations. Sometimes we'll be volunteering along with another group, other times it we'll get a guided tour, and other times it we'll get a Q&A session with a department or team. The hope is to introduce differing communities with each other and supportfuture collaborations thereafter. No projects are defined up front and we wont' be working on any projects while there. That said, engagement and continued conversations are highly encouraged!

DESC Mission:
The Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC) works to end the homelessness of vulnerable people, particularly those living with serious mental or addictive illnesses. Through partnerships and an integrated array of comprehensive services, treatment and housing, we give people the opportunity to reach their highest potential. At DESC, uncommon efforts produce uncommon results that eliminate homelessness, one person at a time.

About the Event:
We'll take a tour of the DESC location to learn more about how DESC works and how Open Seattle members might support the great work they do.

What to Bring:
No need to bring anything but an open mind and interest in meeting an awesome organization doing great work in our community. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
