July was too busy, so August is picking up steam. And not just because it is hot enough to steam a fence (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNY30r29YxY)!
This will be our first meeting at the new and improved Dallas Maker Space! The whole facility is over twice as many sq. ft., but we will mostly enjoy the dedicated classroom. It is large, plenty of outlets, has no designated power tool stations, and the A.C is working well.
I'll demo two Android picks: Overlook Fing and WiFi Analyzer. They are both network discovery tools, one for finding what machines are on your network and another for finding the best wifi network to connect to (or the least busy space to put yours in).
Sooo much new to discuss. Like how we want to build the meeting room of our dreams. Or how Microsoft is making more money off Android than off their own mobile OS licenses. Or how Apple is angling to collect the same innovation tax from Android handset makers. Or how you might need to go overseas to compete with an original idea because odds are somebody has a patent on a fundamental piece your idea is built on, and they aren't afraid to to sue you for not thinking of checking with them first. In other news Perl6 compiler team is working on a new iteration that marches towards feature complete, is made increasingly from perl6 components and actually increases execution speed.
I am thinking Mother's Daughter's Diner for lunch! Yes, you want to save room for the pie. Hope you have a hunger for adventure. ;)
