Our May session is a double header that will delve into Cinder. Our event co-sponsor is StratoScale. Jeff Margolis of StratoScale will provide a brief overview of Cinder command flows, present some common error cases and their solutions, discuss HA deployments, as well as a brief look at what Kilo will bring.

Before joining StratoScale, Jeff worked with HPC (high performance computing), Web 2.0, Cloud, Enterprise & financial services organizations to implement complex and performance oriented fabrics/networks. Jeff spent more than six years as the Manager of Presales Engineering & central region FSI Systems Engineer at Mellanox/Voltaire. Jeff holds a BA in Telecommunications from Michigan State University.

2nd up Xing Yang of EMC will deliver "Cinder Consistency Group Overview and What's Next in Liberty"

Consistency group support was introduced to Cinder in Juno. Several vendors have implemented it in Kilo. In this session, we’ll give an overview of the CG functionality in Cinder, provide some use cases, and discuss what is coming in the future. We’ll also touch upon other new features to be worked on by the Cinder team in the upcoming Liberty release.

Xing Yang is a consultant technologist from the Office of the Global CTO at EMC. She has expertise in storage, data protection, disaster recovery, and cloud and virtualization technologies. Xing has been an OpenStack contributor since the Grizzly release, and is a core member in Cinder and Manila. Xing holds a M.S. in Transportation from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

• DON'T FORGET - for security reasons, the NERD center requires attendees to show a government issued photo ID in order to gain access into the building.

• Parking: Best option for parking is the NERD center parking garage which charges a flat rate after 4pm.
