Relevance of Cloud in the Enterprise by Julia Kreger from RedHat / OpenInfra Foundation board
Businesses tend not to have warp drives like the starships of fiction, but they share a commonality in that there is infrastructure to support the mission. We are also in a time of dramatic market shift, where speculative action amongst corporations is driving massive shifts in the market and preferences are changing. The result is that some specific aspects are less appealing or less needed than they once were, and at the same time, there is still the need for infrastructure. As we move into the land rush for AI, we will need more infrastructure than ever! During this discussion, we will cover high-level marketplace trends, the capabilities of OpenStack, and the shifts observable in the market.

4:45pm - 5:00pm
(Pre-recorded session — TBD)

Let’s Taco ‘bout Message Streaming with FastAPI, Kafka, & Flink by Jenn Junod from Aiven
Applications now require the capability to modify data in real time. Similar to how we need immediate information about the toppings going on a taco, we need a streaming platform that efficiently informs us about the precise location and timing for fulfilling orders. Apache Kafka serves this exact purpose, ensuring that data is managed and relayed at the right place and the right time. In this session, we'll taco ‘bout how Kafka is the de-facto standard in data streaming. We'll discuss its scalability, fault tolerance, and the capability to fetch data from multiple sources and distribute it to one or more consumers that allow you to create robust, fast applications. Then, we’ll give a practical example of Kafka with FastAPI and SQLModel driven-application to track taco orders in real-time to help make better business decisions. We’ll show how you can integrate `aiokafka` to make sure your stream keeps up with the lunch rush and look at reshaping our streams using Apache Flink to understand how our business is going on. Let’s Taco bout it!

5:30pm - 6:30pm
