In our April meetup we will start to review of what you need to know about Mitaka, the latest release of OpenStack. And we have a guest speaker from Datera to talk about Cinder Block storage use cases and their solution.

Title:

OpenStack Cinder delivering Intent-Defined Infrastructure:

Abstract:

OpenStack provides a ubiquitous platform for application deployment and scaling. However, for stateful applications the ability to scale is physically bound to the infrastructure capabilities. There is a need to define the application requirements through clean contracts and abstractions to the infrastructure. The underlying infrastructure should translate this intent to best address the requirements for the application. In this session, we present an implementation to enable intent-defined storage for OpenStack through the notion of application templates.

Speaker:

Matt Smith is a Software Engineer with 5 years of experience in Python automation frameworks and is currently working for Datera, a startup that provides Elastic Data Fabric™, an elastic block storage solution for next-generation public clouds. Matt joined the OpenStack community in 2015 and is an active contributor to the Cinder OpenStack project. Previously Matt worked for Riverbed Technologies on their SteelScript Application Framework design team.
