Buildings can be really helpful on a map, especially in a city. Once they're drawn and tagged with their names and addresses, it gives us a good idea what's in an unfamiliar area. Drawing them all takes a while though!

This month we're trying out a few new tools which might make this faster and easier: Microsoft's Building Footprints, and Facebook's RapiD Editor.

Microsoft has recently donated over 125 million auto-generated building footprints in the US, and Facebook has tweaked the iD Editor to make it possible to review them in a browser, and add them with one click.

We'll be adding some buildings on a nearby block or two using these tools, so bring a laptop or look over someone's shoulder. Afterwards, those who want to can join us to walk over to see how we did, and add their addresses. Newcomers welcome!
