Talk & Play #6

Details
Talk & Play is a bi-monthly meetup whose goal is to give a better idea of what it's like to create and play games today, providing the opportunity to local independent game makers to showcase their work in a friendly and relaxed environment. Everybody's welcome, whatever their background and knowledge level: if you like video games, we'll make sure you have a good time!
The event is split into two parts:
-
TALK: 2/3 short game-related talks (5 to 15 minutes), followed by a Q&A session – it's all about sharing knowledge
-
PLAY: All participants are welcome to bring games they've made or are still working on – a perfect opportunity to discover and play new games, collect feedback and, who knows?, maybe find collaborators for future projects
Check out the summaries of the previous events (http://linkli.st/LorenzoPilia/8WTOT) to get a better idea of what we talk about when we talk about video games.
The speakers this time will be:
Daniel Finck, co-founder and product manager of Berlin based Pfeffermind Games (http://www.pfeffermind-games.de), is going to talk about their upcoming release of the location based mobile game Spyday. Spyday is a mixture of geocaching, quiz and strategy game where every player controls a team of virtual spies that he can place all around the city to steal points from others.
Maschinen-Mensch UG, a small game studio recently founded by the former triple-A developers Riad Djemili and Johannes Kristmann. They’re currently developing their first independently produced title The Curious Expedition (http://www.curious-expedition.com/), a roguelike expedition-sim set in the 19th century. The talk will be focused on their way from the triple-A industry to becoming an independent developer and the creation of The Curious Expedition, its design goals and technical background.
