Introduction to Programming with Python

Details

Due to its popularity, the workshop is now offered again to the people of Tel-Aviv to get them started in programming using Python - no prior knowledge required. So if you are interested in learning programming hands-on and with amazing coaches around, using the great PythonTurtle workshop we've prepared for you, please sign up. And yes, it's free.

The workshop is self-learned from tutorials (http://www.opentechschool.org/material.html) with the assistance of many coaches that move among the learners.

The main target group of this workshop is people who are completely new to programming and want a "soft start", with support from fellow learners and from our coaches.

That said --

If you attended last time and would like to continue to more advanced material, that's great! Note that you will make the most of this workshop if you take some time to play with what you learned at home between the workshops. Bring some beautiful things you built to show the group!

If you already know how to program and want to learn python, please come but do contact us in advance. Our team of coaches will prepare relevant learning materials (but only if we know you're coming).

If you already know your way around python and would like to help others learn, we would like you to come as a coach. If that's the case, please (after rsvp-ing) talk to us (yoni@opentechschool.org), so we'll get to know you a bit and possibly increase our learner capacity.

You will need to bring your own laptop in order to participate with a recent python (2.7) installed. If you have a recent Mac or Linux, this is pre-installed, you are covered. If you are running Windows, please install from here (http://downloads.activestate.com/ActivePython/releases/2.7.2.5/ActivePython-2.7.2.5-win32-x86.msi), or let the organizers know in advance so they can help you set it up.

Because the number of seats is limited, it is important that you only sign up if you definitely plan on coming (and do so, too!). If you can't make it for any reason, please cancel your attendance on Meetup right away so your someone on the waiting list can take your place. Thanks!
