How effective are your unit tests & 5 tips to create secure Docker containers
Details
We've worked hard on presenting you the next best thing after in-person meetups: a high quality live stream with lots of room for interaction with the speakers!
You can tune in to the stream from the comfort of your home and ask questions via the live chat. A host will monitor the chat for questions and relay them to the speakers.
Paco van Beckhoven will kick off by questioning the effectiveness of your unit tests and by introducing a different approach: mutation testing.
Next, guest speaker Brian Vermeer will share 5 tips to create secure Docker containers.
Both talks will be presented in English and live streamed via YouTube - RSVP now for an evening of learning and fun!

First talk: "Mutants to the rescue: How effective are your unit tests?" by Paco van Beckhoven
We write tests to tackle bugs, verify functionality and to ease maintenance. Using code coverage as our metric we might deem ourselves safe and our tests flawless.
But how can we be sure that our tests are okay? The fact that tests cover the code doesn't imply the code is working correctly. A missing assertion can be an opening for a plethora of bugs!
In this talk we will enter the world of mutation testing. By generating mutants, i.e., faulty versions of your code, we measure how tests perform in detecting bugs. We will cover mutation tools, how they work, how to get started and how to integrate it in your builds.

Second talk: "5 Tips to Create Secure Docker Containers for Java Developers" by Brian Vermeer
Docker is the most widely used way to containerize your application.
With Docker Hub, it is easy to create and pull pre-created images. This is very convenient as you can use these images from Docker Hub to quickly build an image for your Java application.
However, the naive way of creating custom Docker images for your Java applications comes with many security concerns. So, how do we make security an essential part of Docker images for Java?
