We haven’t done many documentaries with Opne Auge 👁 recently, but when it comes to this one, we couldn’t resist...
In “Mirakelet i Gullspång ” (2023), debut director Maria Fredriksson 🇸🇪 tells the story of two sisters discovering a potential long lost relative - but with so many strange turns and twists, that the final genre list for this movie covers documentary , murder mystery ánd comedy .
As if the wide range of genres isn’t intriguing enough by itself, the plot of Mirakelet i Gullspång is almost so bizarre that it is hard to believe it actually all happened. Not only is the lost relative a spitting image of the sister’s older half-sister, the supposed suicide of said half-sister also becomes less and less convincing as the story unfolds 🕵️...
Mirakelet i Gullspång won three awards: 🎖 Best editing at the Tribeca Film Festival , 🎖 Best Documentary Feature at the Guldbagge Awards , and 🎖Best Film - Young Critics Award at the Biografilm Festival .
