Opne Auge Film Club #33: Mirakelet i Gullspång
Details
We haven’t done many documentaries with Opne Auge 👁 recently, but when it comes to this one, we couldn’t resist...
In “Mirakelet i Gullspång” (2023), debut director Maria Fredriksson 🇸🇪 tells the story of two sisters discovering a potential long lost relative - but with so many strange turns and twists, that the final genre list for this movie covers documentary, murder mystery ánd comedy.
As if the wide range of genres isn’t intriguing enough by itself, the plot of Mirakelet i Gullspång is almost so bizarre that it is hard to believe it actually all happened. Not only is the lost relative a spitting image of the sister’s older half-sister, the supposed suicide of said half-sister also becomes less and less convincing as the story unfolds 🕵️...
Mirakelet i Gullspång won three awards: 🎖 Best editing at the Tribeca Film Festival, 🎖 Best Documentary Feature at the Guldbagge Awards, and 🎖Best Film - Young Critics Award at the Biografilm Festival.
