Welcome to ORLCAPEX NYC's first meetup! Finally, a meetup in the NYC area for folks that love APEX as much as you do! We have not one but two great talks scheduled for this event...

Note: You must RSVP for this event and seats are limited. Please RSVP with your full name and bring matching ID for security. Please do not RSVP if you are unsure that you will be able to attend. If you do RSVP and are no longer able to attend please change your status so that someone on the waiting list may take your place.

Marc Sewtz will be kicking things off with Oracle Application Express 5.0. This session will provide an overview of the Oracle Application Express (APEX) development framework and introduce the major new features being delivered in APEX 5.0. The main goal of APEX 5.0 is to improve developer productivity. See how the many improvements to both the Application Builder and the components you can use to build applications can make it even faster and easier to exceed your customer's business requirements when building HTML5 web applications with Oracle Application Express.

Marc is a Senior Software Development Manager at Oracle Corporation in New York. Marc joined Oracle in 1998 and after working in Consulting and Sales, he has been working in Product Development for the Oracle Application Express (APEX) team since 2002. Marc and his team are responsible for features like Mobile support, reports, charts and tabular forms, the APEX UI and templates and the PDF printing options. Marc has a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Applied Sciences in Wedel, Germany.

Next up Shakeeb Rahman will present Oracle Application Express 5.0 - A Focus on User Interface. Take a sneak peak at the completely re-designed user interface of Oracle Application Express (APEX) 5.0, and the themes/templates related features it includes to enable complex, declarative user interfaces. This brief talk will look at the design goals of APEX 5 and how it will help developers build applications with beautiful, modern user interfaces.

Shakeeb is a Principal Software Developer at Oracle and leads user interface design for Oracle Application Express (APEX), APEX Packaged Applications, and bundled themes. He has made significant contributions to the core product in areas of design, user experience, and user interface, and regularly presents at industry conferences including Oracle OpenWorld and ODTUG KScope. Shakeeb strives to empower APEX developers with the tools they need to build clean, beautiful, responsive applications. You can gain insights into what Shakeeb is up to by following @shakeeb on Twitter.

After Marc and Shakeeb have blown our minds with their APEX skills we'll open up the floor for some Lightening Demos. Have you done something cool you'd like to share? Know a little trick that may benefit the community? This is your chance to show the world! Or at least the people in the room... Seriously though, if you're interested in doing a Lightening Demo, please let us know ahead of time so that we may plan ahead.

Here's an overview of the agenda:

• 6:00pm - Come on up for food, drinks, and socializing

• 6:20pm - Announcements

• 6:25pm - Marc Sewtz presents Oracle Application Express 5.0

• 6:55pm - Shakeeb Rahman presents Oracle Application Express 5.0 - A Focus on User Interface

• 7:30pm - Lightning Demos

• 8:00pm - All good things must come to an end...

But wait, there's more! For those of you that are hungry for more socializing, drinks, or even food, a group of us will take to the streets of NYC to satisfy your desires during APEX After Hours. Everyone is invited to join but your bill is your own. :)
