June Hike & Lunch @ Crystal Cove Beach (in Fashion Island)

Join us on a beautiful beach hike!
Meet at 8:30am. We will leave on our hike promptly at 8:45am so please come early. Bring water, comfortable lightweight hiking shoes, sunscreen, hat, light jacket as appropriate. The ocean trail is mostly flat (pretty easy) with several restroom opportunities. There is one steep, but paved walkway down to the beach (just take it slow). We will walk north as far as the trail takes us (up to the golf course and viewing the ocean most of the way) and then hike down onto the Crystal Cove Beach. After admiring the tide pools and sea cave, we will then walk south along the beach (to the Beach Comber passing the historical cottages), then circle around and up to our parking lot. It takes about an 70-90 min. It's a lovely hike.

Parking: Because parking at the state parks on a Saturday is $20, you may want to carpool. Use the chat section if you want to arrange this. In the past, people have parked in the parking structure between Nordstrom and Bloomingdales in the Fashion Island parking lot (since this is where our lunch will be). I might suggest you meet there at 8am so that you can be at the Crystal Cove parking lot on time (8:30am). Then each car will split the cost of parking at the state park. Enter at the Newport Coast Drive and State Park entrance on PCH. See exact pin placement on the map. Go to Lot 4.

Note: If you have a state park pass and/or want to meet us there: At the traffic light at PCH and Newport Coast Drive, go into the State Park Dr. and turn left to Lot 4 (at the end). We will meet by the restrooms in that parking lot area and promptly begin our hike at 9am.

Lunch: Then after our hike, we will carpool back to Fashion Island and eat at Mendocino Farms (fast casual) out on the patio. We should arrive there between 11:00-11:15am
