OCCATS August Morning Hike and Breakfast

Details
Bring water, comfortable lightweight hiking shoes, sunscreen, and hat (hiking poles may be helpful). We will start hiking at promptly 8:30 am and hope to be done before 10:00am to beat the heat. PLEASE ARRIVE AT 8:15AM! Meet in front of the Nature Center off the dirt parking lot. Look for the ladies with the name tags.
Oak Canyon Nature Center is a 58-acre natural park nestled in the Anaheim Hills. A year-round stream meanders through the park. Consisting of three adjoining canyons, four miles of hiking trails traverse one of the few remaining areas of oak woodland and coastal sage scrub in our region. Native wildlife makes the canyon their home and is just waiting to be discovered. Also located on site is the John J. Collier Interpretive Center, a small museum with live animal and regional natural history exhibits.
The Nature Center is ideal for those who are just stepping into the wilderness for the first time or for those more experienced trekkers who are seeking a short hike. We will be doing the 2.1 mile loop. It will be a moderate hike, but should only take about 1 to 1.5 hours.
Parking Details:
- Limited Parking Lot: The nature center has a small dirt parking lot with limited spaces.
- Street Parking: Parking is also available on the sides of Walnut Canyon Road in designated areas.
We will then go to breakfast together at Flappy Jack's Pancake House at 2848 N. Santiago Blvd. Orange, CA 92867 (arriving at about 10:15am).
For questions about the hike, contact our park ranger who is leading the hike, Candi Hubert (candi.hubert@gmail.com).
If you are only coming to the breakfast, RSVP to Cindy Freeman at freemancindy504@gmail.com.
