Beaten by Battleships: How I built the 3rd best APEX game

When the APEX gaming competition was announced last year with a Microsoft Surface as the first prize I immediately decided to enter. My entry is a reboot of the Rescue game for ZX Spectrum which was a childhood favourite of mine. I had only just rediscovered this game just weeks before the competition was announced and I decided this 33 year old game was ready for a makeover APEX style.

In this presentation I will explain the approach I took to building the game as well as some of the technical challenges faced. I will also cover some of the advanced features of Dynamic Actions used which allowed for custom events and complex jQuery actions.The layout, images and theme are also explained in detail. In the end, sadly, I didn't win the Surface, although I was pleased to have finished in 3rd place winning a Chromecast.

Lightning Demos

This gives all attendee's the chance to show something they have created in Oracle APEX, a maximum of 15 minutes and no slides please.

This is great way to make a presentation debut.

If you are interested in showing us your creation feel free to drop a mail in advance or just bring your laptop on the night.

You will find parking opposite the venue. The venue is only a few minutes from Leeds train station so hopefully this a great location for all.

Food will not be provided so please grab something before you come.
