Beyond Steelhead Falls

There are several sights past Steelhead Falls that most people don't see (or know exist). Besides the beautiful Steelhead Falls are:

• The Gray Towers
• Bend in the River wetlands
• Clamshell fossil beds
• Catwalk trail

We will do a morning hike and probably be back to the trailhead by noon, before it gets too hot. If you do get too hot the pool below the falls is one of the more popular swimming holes in Central Oregon.

We will meet at the Steelhead Falls trailhead at 8 am

This is about 10 miles North of Redmond, near Crooked River Ranch on the Deschutes river (directions in the link above.) Adjust your travel time accordingly but it is easy to get to.

This is Wilderness area (sort of, we have to follow wilderness rules) so groups are limited to wilderness size. The trail has a couple of scramble over rocks spots but is mostly easy. It is about 5 miles round trip.
