Three Fingered Jack (3FJ)- February 3 AT Ski/split/snowshoe to South East bowl.
12PM will meet at Santiam Snowpark (fee area, get snowpark pass before!)
Itinerary-This is not a summit bid attempt, but a fun ski/splitboard overnight or day outing. Our trip goal is to ski/snowshoe 5 miles North in rolling terrain through the burn area to the South East bowl of 3FJ. 10-12 mile round trip depending on conditions and weather. I expect partly cloudy as of Tuesday Jan 30 and beautiful views of 3 FJ up close. Saturday night bonfire in the snow! Sunday am sunrise climb the high ridge to the east of 3 FJ for alpenglow morning pictures.
Equipment List- Skis/split/snowshoes, helmet, headlight, 2 hats, glacier goggles or goggles, sunglasses, winter clothing, extra socks, windgear, 2 pr gloves, backpack, trekking poles with snow baskets only!, 2 liters water, dinner/snacks, stove, pot, fuel, 4 season tent, 20deg sleeping bag minimum and 2 sleeping pads. Make a friend and share a stove/tent. Camp saw if you have one, party favors for the overnight!
Optional gear- GPS, avalanche kit if you are going to ski high up in the SE bowl.
