OOPS General Meeting – Kayaking In Croatia -Joanne Barta AND Don Beale

Please join OOPS for an evening hosted by club stalwarts Joanne Barta and Don Beale about their recent kayaking trip to Croatia.

Joanne began kayaking about ten years ago with her kids while on vacation in Alaska. After returning from vacation she wondered what was next and a friend suggested joining OOPS. Since then Joanne has paddled with and taught classes for OOPS and has enjoyed being an active member of the club. She loves to travel and that coupled with a curiosity and desire to learn more about her heritage led her to Croatia.

Her presentation will feature a recent trip to the islands of Rab and Sveti Grgur where she and three friends paddled and camped. She’d like you to know how beautiful, warm, and sometimes windy it is there and how easy it was to arrange a kayak trip there.

When not kayaking or gardening, Joanne is a middle school teacher and coach in Portland Public Schools.
