A child of salt and sun, Michael moved from Southern California to Seattle and found his new passion of kayaking in 2007. The call of the salt enabled the transition from Flatwater Sprinting to the exploratory and playful nature of Sea Kayaking, and seasoned with three more years pf salt as a guide and naturalist in the San Juan Islands, Michael turned passion into profession, culminating in moving to Portland to explore the educational side of kayaking with the BCU and Next Adventure.
As a responsible paddler should, as Michael has learned to break his toys in dumb ways, he's learned to maintain and fix them in clever ways.
