ORG Edinburgh Cryptoparty with SCRIPT

Details

ORG Edinburgh are organising a Cryptoparty in collaboration with SCRIPT (http://www.scriptcentre.ed.ac.uk/home) - The University of Edinburgh's Centre for Studies of Intellectual Property and Technology Law.

The aim of the Cryptoparty is to teach attendees how to install and use encryption programs such as GPG, OTR and Tor.

These programs help to secure our online communications, which in the wake of the Snowden revelations, seem more vital than ever.

No prior technical expertise or knowledge is assumed, so beginners are welcome. However, you will require a laptop so please bring one along with you.

If you’re an advanced cryptography user and would like to volunteer at the event by sharing your skills with others, please just leave us a comment below.

The event will provide a fun and informal way to meet with other local ORG supporters, as well as an opportunity to learn more about encryption, so we hope to see you all there.

Unfortunately as the room is on the third floor of the Old College the event is not accessible to wheelchair users, but we hope to hold another Cryptoparty soon which will be.

Thanks to SCRIPT (http://www.scriptcentre.ed.ac.uk/home) for hosting!
