How and when to apologize

Do you find it hard to apologize?

Given that most of us aren't perfect, why is that?

What difference does it make if the "hurt" was accidental, rather than deliberate?

Some apologies are simple, and can be thought of as "one an done" . Other situations are more complex, where both parties contributed to the situation.

Can it be as easy as saying something once, and let everyone go on?
