I'm sure all of us have done a "good deed", but why did we do it?
Is it just self-satisfaction the reason, or perhaps we have mixed motives?
Such phrases as "enlightened self-interest" come to mind.
To what extent does public recognition of a selfless act tarnish the idea of "I'm just doing the right thing" ?
To what extent to you agree with Plato, who said the way to avoid mixed motivations behind a good deed is appear unjust, but be just?
Is altruism just a function of a group that we depend on?
If we do the right thing, does that allow others to be "social loafers", accepting the benefits of your good idea, without contributing any act of theirs?
To what extent does belief in an afterlife increase the chances of doing the right thing?
