About us
OG brings together people building resilient communities for uncertain times.
The world is changing rapidly in many ways. We’re creating new paths for this new reality.
We’re optimistic realists. We see challenges clearly while building solutions. Not doomers, not idealists. Just people doing something about it while actually enjoying life. We work hard, play hard, and refuse to let crisis steal our joy. Serious work doesn’t mean serious faces all the time.
Three goals:
1. Community connection
Genuine relationships and honest conversation. The kind of community that makes hard work sustainable and life enjoyable.
2. Practical experimentation
Low-stakes trials of new business and social models. What works for one strengthens all. An entire new world needs to be built - there’s endless space and need for experimentation.
3. Demonstration over persuasion
Instead of convincing people better methods exist, we make them real. Right next to them. Show, don’t tell.
If you’re tired of trying to convince people that change is possible, this is for you.
If you just want everything to go back to how it was a few years ago, this isn’t your group.
About this community:
While we are blessed with the opportunities offered by the international and mobile community Bangkok presents, Thai people, culture, and language are prioritized. This is built for and with Thai communities. Foreigners are welcome but guided into the room, not catered to.
100 years ago, strong social organizations brought real benefits to their communities during hard times. Time for new groups to rise to new challenges.
OG aspires to later develop into a social-economic enterprise combining community building, skill development, and cooperative business models. For now, we’re a community group exploring what’s possible.
We meet for serious work, practical projects, skill-building, and genuine social connection. All of it matters.
About the founder:
The group organizer is an American veteran with intelligence analysis and Special Forces cultural operations background. Served on Secretary of Defense Austin’s staff under United States Forces - Iraq command team and later on retired Lieutenant General Deedrick’s staff at 10th Special Forces Group. General Deedrick later served as the U.S. representative to NATO command. Both leaders were subsequently sidelined by the U.S. Trump administration because they are not on-board with these current actions.
Experience spans strategic-level operations to community-embedded cultural work. Spent the last decade preparing for systemic changes. Deeply embedded in Thai communities, conversational in Thai language, fluent in local context.
When not in analyst or soldier mode, you’ll find me in jazz bars, at EDM shows, exploring Bangkok’s creative scenes, or planning the next community gathering that’s equal parts meaningful work and genuine fun. The teddy bear is the default.
