F Cancer 5k Run & Walk

#### Schedule change: Saturday, Oct 3— we're running at 9 AM, not 8

That morning we're joining the F Cancer 5k Run & Walk instead of our usual run. It's on the same Five Mile Drive course we already know, and it raises money for Fred Hutch Cancer Center and MultiCare Home & Hospice. The event is a family-run fundraiser in memory of the organizers' mom, who fought breast cancer twice.

9:00 AM (no 8 AM club run that day)

Start/finish is at our normal spot just past the Owen Beach turnoff, behind the road-closure gate on Five Mile Drive

Registration is free for us, so please consider donating what you'd normally pay for a 5k. It's quick to do on the same page:
Friends and family are welcome. It's a run or walk. Non-members: the price goes up after Sept 20. Parking will be busier than usual, so come early.

THE ROUTE
Our primary 5k route is in Point Defiance Park along Five Mile Drive. The start/finish is just behind the gate where the road is closed to traffic. The route winds along the closed road past two scenic overlooks before runners reach a turnaround point at roughly two miles into the run. Runners are then guided onto a fire road trail that rejoins with Five Mile Drive for a rolling downhill and then an uphill sweep toward the finish.

DIRECTIONS
Parking is located in the upper lot at Owen Beach. Once parked, walk up the paved trail to the right. The start/finish line is located just beyond the gate where the road is closed to traffic.
