The British Invasion- Acoustic Performance Meetup

Details

OFRAM will close our 2015 season with a special year end meetup. 1964-1967 brought us a groundbreaking musical movement we call the 'British Invasion'. It is essentially the 50th anniversary of this special musical era- let's celebrate it!

The Beatles, the Stones, the Who, Cream, the Yardbirds, the Animals, The Hollies, David Bowie, The Moody Blues, The Zombies, Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Bee Gees, Herman's Hermits, The Kinks, the list goes on and on. And don't forget the folk-rock musicians that were part of the invasion- Bert Jansch, Martin Carthy, Nick Drake, Steeleye Span, Donovan, John Renbourn, etc.

IMPORTANT: This will be a an Acoustic Coffeehouse performance style/ meetup- You should prepare/arrange your music to lead it, and direct the group regarding the scope of accompaniment you desire if any. Pick songs you enjoy and can play.

We will allow for limited electrical lead accompaniment- please do let me know if you'd like to bring an electric guitar, (I supply the amplifier(s) and monitor the mix) but our focus will be on the acoustic work of this movement.

When you RSVP, please try and post the songs you'll bring on the meetup page. The sooner you post your song, the sooner you might work with other members on group arrangements.

A list of hits if anyone needs ideas is found here See http://tomhull.com/ocston/nm/notes/britinv.php

If you are able to prepare a duo or trio act in advance- that would be splendid. Bring only songs you've worked up to a good level (if it is great, you're too good for us), we'll try to have a list together a week before :)

Since it is the last meetup of the year, I'm going to open more slots for people to show. We may need to tighten our belt so we'll limit solo numbers to 2 should we exceed 20 songs.

Let's honor the Brits/Scots/Irish and their fine musical tradition with our playing!
