Your Meditation Practice is a Heroine/Hero's Journey
Join us this Monday, April 20th, as we transform our perspective on the meditative path. Many of us approach mindfulness looking for a calm reset, it's a good start, but the ancient teachings suggest something far more exciting: a heroic quest. This Monday at LifeArt Meditation, April Koester will guide us through 'The Hero's Journey of the Mind.' Borrowing from Joseph Campbell's work on mythology (George Lucas based the original Star Wars on this framework) and Thanissaro Bhikku's skillful approach to not-self (Anatta), we will explore how to harness our natural ambition to navigate the difficult terrain of the heart and mind without falling into the traps of burnout or nihilism.
We’ll dive into the teaching of Anatta (not-self)—not as a cold philosophical concept, but as a practical strategy for ultimate freedom. The session will include a 20-minute talk, a guided meditation based on the renowned teacher Joseph Goldstein’s short ‘Not-Self' practices, and a live Q&A. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or a curious beginner, come discover how to transform your desire into the raft you need to cross the flood of stress, and into a life of compassionate freedom. See you at 6:30 PM ET!
