Designing Power BI reports for the public: tips, tricks and lessons learnt
In our increasingly virtual world Power BI is revolutionizing how we can educate and engage our communities across all industries! In this session Alice will share her experiences and real-world case studies of how they are working together with government organizations to create online interactive Power BI reports to more effectively connect with and engage their stakeholders compared to traditional lengthy, static PDF reports. She’ll unpack the different visualization tips and tricks to create a shared understanding of your data – quickly, such as intuitive navigation using bookmarks and buttons, interactive maps, infographics and animations, using iconography, images and videos to create an emotional connection and more! She’ll also explore how to create reports for all users by including accessibility features for meeting WCGA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). Learn about the different options for embedding public reports in websites, considerations and our lessons learnt from creating public engagement Power BI reports for the water and environmental industry.

About Alice Drummond:
Alice Drummond is Co-Founder of DiscoverEI, and a Microsoft Data Platform MVP, and her passion is combining Power BI and graphic design to bring data to life! Drawing on her background in environmental engineering, Alice works collaboratively with government organisations to turn mountains of data into practical, useful, decision-guiding insights, and gets a real buzz from training the next generation of data champions, and is a regular speaker at Power Platform community events and conferences and co-hosts the Power BI for Enviro's monthly meetup. Alice understands the power of combining science and art to tell data stories, and embeds customized animations and infographics in Power BI reports to help bridge the communication gap between scientists and decision makers.
