Data Integration: Empowering Data Experts with OneLake
In this discussion, the idea is to touch briefly on OneLake and then shift the spotlight towards data integration, particularly catering to data scientists. Additionally, there will be a connection drawn between this data and its utilization within Power BI. Moreover, an element of enchantment will be incorporated for an engaging demonstration.
Agenda:

  • Introductions (5 mins)
  • Presentation (55 mins)
  • Q&A session (15 mins)

About Elena Moor:
She holds Masters in Applied Mathematics and CS and her main focus of the research was in application of different statistical modeling methods to the real world like time series and financial market volatility, deterministic chaos and seizure prediction also an interpretation of the signals in the brain mathematically.
Just before becoming part of the training team, her most recent endeavor was with Microsoft's Cloud Operation and Innovation team. They were involved in constructing a mathematical and data flow framework. This framework helped them decide whether it was logical to construct, rent, or bypass a location when establishing a new data center. This was crucial for upholding their commitment to Availability Zones, which enhance their ability to ensure application and data availability on virtual machines (VMs). Their efforts mainly focused on orchestrating data transitions and modifications. Personally, she believes she'll retain her knowledge of flattening JSON using ADF for at least another 15 years.
About Kristin Deokiesingh:
As a Microsoft Certified Trainer, she collaborates with Elena Moor on data integration and Power BI. Her background includes an Honours Bachelors of Math in Statistics with a minor in Actuarial Science from the University of Waterloo. She's worked as an actuarial analyst in various domains, including health, life insurance, property and casualty, and pensions. Additionally, she gained experience in logistics at Microsoft datacenters in Canada, overseeing inventory crucial for Azure cloud operations. She transitioned into a Microsoft Technical Trainer, helping others master Microsoft technologies like Power BI. She's now passionate about sharing her expertise with eager learners.
