"Travels with Epicurus", Online Friday Nights

On January 9th, 2026, we will finish the book “Travels with Epicurus.” We will journey with the author as he leaves the gloom and doom of Chapter 6 behind and shares with us the transcendence he finds in both the extraordinary and the ordinary, and in moments, large and small. Is this the simple answer to a wonderful life for all of us, no matter how young or old? Appreciating the moments, large and small?
Speaking of appreciating moments large and small, January 9th marks the end of our engaging discussions and review of “Travels with Epicurus.” So, what comes next? After our session on January 2nd, about twelve people remained in the Orlando Stoics zoom room and shared thoughts on what should come after January 9th. The group consensus was to forge ahead with another book – and we settled on “The Pursuit of Liberty” by Jeff Rosen. (Jeff Rosen also wrote “The Pursuit of Happiness” which Orlando Stoics reviewed months ago – Jeff Rosen even joined us for one of our meetings.)

It has been delightful to have new people join Orlando Stoics over the last few weeks. We do not have a formal “leader” right now, we just have several people who have been hosting and pulling together material for each week’s meetings (thank you Cyndi, Edith, Will, and Joe). Will has agreed to facilitate the next book for us, and Joe, Cyndi, and Linda have agreed to assist in the prep work, managing the tech, and giving Will a break when he needs it. But if anyone at any time wants to be more involved, feel free to let any one of us (Joe, Will, Cyndi, Linda) know any time or during the next zoom meeting.
