MODERN MONDAYS: FWYTYK & The Lost Art of Curiosity
Details
"What is the first business of one who practices philosophy? To get rid of self-conceit. For it is impossible for anyone to begin to learn that which he thinks he already knows." –Epictetus, Discourses 2.17
How often do we mistake certainty for wisdom?
Somewhere along the way, many of us became “experts” in the theory of how things should go—
how we should feel,
how others should behave,
how a “good life” is defined.
Not many people are encouraged to say, "I don’t know".
FWYTYK (“Forget What You Think You Know”) is a reminder of something simple but uncomfortable: certainty can quietly block understanding. Along the way, many of us traded curiosity for correctness. We became experts in the theory of our lives, while still very much beginners at living them—especially when it comes time to put philosophy into practice.
This Monday is an invitation to step out of the pressure to have the answers and into a playful, reflective space to explore what happens when we leave certainty at the door.
What To Expect From This Event:
- I don’t know 😜
- But I hope you will come to find out with me.
Come as you are. Leave your inner expert at the door (just for the night), and let's see what happens.
