What we’re about

Looking to play Old School Dungeons & Dragons and some of the other OSR Role Playing Games in the South Jersey area? Let's get some games schedule and have some fun exploring dungeons and battling dragons in the style of B/X, BECMI, and AD&D.

WHO
Call me Gabriell. I've been playing and running D&D games on and off for the past... well many years now. I enjoy being a game master. I also enjoy playing, so if there is an opportunity for someone else to jump into that role now and then, I'm happy to join in on that fun too.

I'm generally light on adhering strictly to any particular rules, opting for maintaining a fun game over one that quotes lines from the PH or DMG as if it were lines of scripture from the bible.

WHAT
My goal with this group is to organize some fun games of Old School D&D (and other RPG systems like Star Frontiers, GamaWorld, etc...) with some like minded people. I'm looking to run some of these games myself though if anyone else wants to create a events where they are willing to host and run a game, I have no issue with that. Let me know your intentions and we can help you get started.

My intention is to run games using D&D 1st Edition and/or Basic D&D (B/X or BECMI) rule sets. This includes, but not limited to, content that falls under the concept of Old School Renaissance or Old School Revival (OSR), Such as OSRIC or Old School Essentials (OSE). I am particularly interested in running the OSE adventures. There is also a chance that I would be interested in running some Star Frontiers, 2300AD, or some other non-D&D style adventures if there is an interest.

The games I am looking to run will be more heavily geared towards the "crunchy" side rather than role play and engaging with the challenges of a dungeon crawl over any particular story. In essence, I hold the belief that the story is a product of playing the game, rather than players engaging in some pre-crafted story.

With that in mind, games that I host in this context will probably be light on campaign aesthetics. Additionally, your characters might possibly die at some point. Don't be afraid to roll up another one and get back into the action. This is all part of the fun.

WHEN
I'd like to host an event about once a month, with the possibility of a more casual pub night for meet and greets of potential new players, or just hanging out to talk about game outside of the context of playing the game. This will most likely be on the weekends (Saturday or Sunday).

WHERE
I'm currently looking for a venue in Collingswood or nearby area. I am currently talking to Tom over at The Factory to see if I can procure the use of one of their Big Ass Tables (they have several) in their main floor. I have some other places in mind as well should an alternative venue be needed.

For the meet and greet events, I'm looking at Devil's Creek Brewery in Collingswood and Kings Road Brewery in Haddonfield. Both of these locations have seating for larger groups as well as fine drafts on tap. If you aren't the beer type, Kings Road also offers home-brewed softdrinks such as Rootbeer on tap.

WHY
To have fun of course!

For clarity, I'm not looking to build a "community" or to lord over anyone in the name of "fun". Were are here to enjoy playing the game with other like-minded people, and that's about it. If you enjoy old school D&D, and are looking to play in some games, this group should be right up your alley.

CAVEATS

If you're not having fun, then perhaps this isn't the group for you, and that's just fine. Sometimes in Table Top gaming, people can get upset or feel that their needs aren't being met. I understand that that can happen sometimes. I just want to make it clear that I'm not hosting these events to micromanage your game experiences for you. Also don't expect me to manage social relationships between members of the group. I will, however, expect everyone to be an adult. I have no patience for political Tom-wankery. Keep it civil and respectful and everyone will get along and have fun.

So if all of this sounds awesome to you as a player, great let's get together and have some adventures.
