Osho Alchemy and the Fire of Awareness: A Course in Witnessing

Link visible for attendees

O-Meditation Sangha is hosting an Osho discourse, meditation and dialogue.

O-Meditation Sangha is a circle of friends in meditation. It is a group dedicated to exploring the teachings and practice of meditation from all of the Mystics, the ones in whom the greatest transformation has occurred, but especially the modern enlightened Master Osho.

Osho spent his whole life working to awaken as many individuals as possible through the practice of meditation. In addition to teaching the 112 ancient meditation techniques of the Vigyan Bhairava Tantra, Osho also devised new "active" meditation techniques designed specifically to overcome the complexities and busyness of the modern mind. But Osho has also said that the very core of meditation is witnessing.

Osho has said:
"Real meditation is not a technique. Real meditation is just relaxing, sitting silently, letting it happen, whatsoever it is. Allowing the whole anxiety to come up, to surface. And watching it, watching it. And doing nothing to change it. Witnessing it is real meditation.

In that witnessing your Buddhahood will become more and more powerful. Witnessing is the nourishment for your Buddhahood. And the more powerful your Buddhahood is, the less anxiety there is. The day your Buddhahood is complete, all anxiety is gone."
-Osho, from The Perfect Master, V.1, Discourse #8

In this meditation meeting we will explore Osho's Witnessing meditation and the alchemy that happens in the fire of awareness. This module is part of A Course in Witnessing.

Our meditation meeting has 3 parts. Listening Meditation, Satsang Meditation and Dialog. Between The Listening and Satsang we will take a 5-minute break. At the end of the Satsang we will begin our Dialogue in which you can unmute your microphone share, question, comment or just remain silent.

The Listening Meditation is simply an invitation to remain here and now, to Be present, to be in silence. The power of listening is more when we can listen in presence without agreeing or disagreeing in a relaxed attentiveness, with attention without tension.

The Satsang Meditation is comprised of alternating periods of silence, music and sometimes spoken word. The satsang is an opportunity to sink ever more deeply into stillness, into silence.

The satsangs give us an opportunity to explore witnessing. From this place of silence, with closed eyes, we watch, we witness whatever appears within our consciousness. It may be sensations in the body, it may be thoughts in the mind and it may be feelings in the heart, all or any of these are allowed to reveal themselves without us judging and without analyzing. Our job is to discover the witness.

The Dialogue is an opportunity to question or share something that might have arisen during the listening or meditation or to just remain silent.

O-Meditation Sangha maintains a blogsite also with the name Sat Sangha Salon which you can find at https://o-meditation.com/

Nadabrahma is a very healing meditation and a joy to do as a group.

Nadabrahma is the humming meditation – through humming and hand movements, conflicting parts of you start falling in tune, and you bring harmony to your whole being. Then, with body and mind totally together, you “slip out of their hold” and become a witness to both. This watching from the outside is what brings peace, silence, and bliss.

The meditation is to be done with its specific OSHO Nadabrahma Meditation music, which indicates and energetically supports the different stages

A detailed demonstration is provided and we conclude with a short Celebration.

Osho "Let everything arise out of your awareness. And the miracle of awareness is that without your saying anything, without your doing anything, it simply dissolves all that is ugly in you into all that is beautiful.

Awareness is a transforming force. Whatsoever deepens with your awareness is virtue. Whatsoever disappears with your awareness is sin.

I don’t label any act as sin, virtue, right, wrong – acts don’t have that quality. It is your awareness. Just try it and you will be simply amazed that there are things in you which cannot stand in front of awareness, they simply disappear.

Awareness functions almost like magic.”

Osho on Satsang

Last night someone asked me what satsang was. I answered that satsang meant the company of one’s self, of the truth, and that the truth was not to be found outside. Neither guru, nor teachers, nor shastras can give it to you. It is inside you and if you wish to attain it, seek your own company. Be with yourself. But we are always in the company of someone or other, and never at all on our own.

Eckhart was once sitting all alone under a grove of trees in a lonely field. A friend who was passing by saw him sitting there. He went up to him and said, “I saw you sitting all alone and I thought I would keep you company and so I have come over to join you.” Do you know what Eckhart replied? He said, “I was with myself, but you have come and now I am all alone.”

Are you ever in your own company like this? This is satsang. This is prayer. This is meditation.

When I am all alone within myself and when there is no thought, no thought of anyone, I am in the company of my Self. When the outer world is absent, inside there is the company of one’s Self. In that companionless-ness and solitude, in your pure being the truth is realized because in your innermost being you yourself are that truth.

‘Meditation has to be only a watchfulness; then it is possible to have it twenty-four hours a day. Even while going to sleep, be watchful. To the last moment, when you see that now sleep is taking you over – the darkness goes on growing, the body is relaxing and the point comes when suddenly from wakefulness you move into sleep – watch up to that moment. And first thing in the morning, as you become aware that the sleep is finished, immediately start watching; soon you will be able to watch even while you are asleep.

‘Watchfulness will become a lamp that goes on burning day and night inside you.

‘This is the only authentic meditation. All else that has been told to you in the name of meditation is simply a toy to play with, to deceive yourself that you are doing something spiritual. With this meditation, you will come across the inescapable. Everything illusory will disappear.

‘But everything in existence is not illusory. That which is not illusory is inescapable, and what are you going to do with the inescapable? Perhaps you have never thought about it.

‘This very inescapability itself is meditation.

‘If you go on watching even the inescapable, you will be able to see clearly that that which disappears while watching is illusory; that which becomes even more clear, more crystal clear, which was before hidden behind the cloud of your illusory dreams, desires, now stands absolutely clear.’

(Osho: The Great Zen Master Ta Hui)
