A walk in the forest// Future library

Details

Dear members,
I have some exciting information!
Join us for a wonderful ceremony organised by the Deichman called the Future library in Frognerseteren/Nordmarka. Join us for the annual celebration and handover ceremony.
In Nordmarka, in a grove just outside Oslo, one thousand trees have been planted. In one hundred years those trees will be used to make paper for a one-of-a-kind book anthology; between now and then one author is invited each year to contribute by writing a secret text. Those texts will remain unread and unpublished until 2114 when they can finally be seen by future generations. This project is Future Library, a work by the Scottish artist Katie Paterson.
This year’s author, the tenth so far, is Valeria Luiselli.

Join us as we walk to Future Library in Nordmarka, where the annual Handover Ceremony will take place. Luiselli will give her text to Oslo’s Mayor Anne Lindboe, and afterwards we will gather at Deichman Bjørvika where the text will be placed in the Silent Room on the top floor of the library. There will then be a conversation with Luiselli about the artwork, hope, and the future. The conversation will be led by literary critic Carina Beddari.

/Practical Info//

Meet us at the point called "Sporten" at Frognerseteren at 9:45 am (please, don't be late, we won't be waiting for anyone). The walk through the forest starts at 10:00 am and it's an approximately 30 minutes of walk, led by the author, Valeria Luiselli. The ceremony starts when everyone has reached the Future library grove at around 10:45 am.
Dress up according to the weather and for a walk in the forest on a terrain that might be a bit rough with rocks. Most of the hike is through an easy path but there will be some rough patches.
You will get coffee on the way but bring your own water or drink and matpakke.
Bring something to sit on and please take care of the trees and the forest.
After the hike, the arrangement will continue at the Deichman Bjørvika where Valeria Luiselli will place the manuscript in the quiet room and there will be a talk with her afterwards. The arrangement will be in English.
