Speaker One:
Dalibor Blazevic, Principal Solution Architect and Technology Evangelist in Cegal AS

Title of Talk:
Kafka Transaction Support

Abstract:
More and more systems are being build using asynchronous pattern. Challenge with this approach is how to support transactions. In this presentation we shall see typical integration data flow, compare synchronous and asynchronous design pattern and see how Kafka can help us in solving transaction problems in asynchronous integration flow.

Bio:
Dalibor is a Principal Solution Architect and technology evangelist in Cegal AS a Global tech powerhouse with roots in Norway, specializing in energy and security. He has more than 25 years of experience in the field. He developed his first asynchronous system some 25 years ago when working as consultant in telecom industry. He has lectured on numerous conferences including Oracle Code One in San Francisco and Kafka Summit 2X in London.

Speaker Two:
Phong Pham, Managing Consultant Platform Developer, Cegal

Title of Talk:
Zookeeper High Availability in 2 Data Center Setup with Observers

Abstract:
Zookeeper cluster requires a quorum of servers to be up. It uses a majority quorum to make a decision. To achieve majority quorum it is recommended to have 3 Data Center in case one Data Center going down.
We have experience many of our customers only have 2 Data Center available. In this presentation we will see how to use Observer feature to ensure Zookeeper quorum in a 2 Data Center setup.

Bio:
Phong has many years of experience with DB and Middleware products. This means good experience around installation, security patching, upgrades, migrations, tuning, backup/recovery and HA. He is able to build new platforms with a focus on scalability, security and self-service. He has a burning interest and understanding for the operation of business-critical applications.

Speaker Three:
Danica Fine, Sr. Developer Advocate, Confluent

Title of Talk:
Data Streaming HA/DR in the Cloud with Confluent

Abstract:
If you’re using Kafka in your company for real-time insights, having a solid high-availability, disaster recovery (HA/DR) strategy is crucial to keeping your data in motion. Due in large part to the overhead that comes with tackling this at application deployment time, these strategies have historically been set up behind the scenes at a platform level.

Simplify your HA/DR strategy and define it programmatically at the application level by leveraging Kafka through Confluent Cloud as your central nervous system. With a scriptable API, provision Kafka Clusters programmatically and set up Confluent Cluster Linking to customize HA/DR requirements per application at onboarding time.

In this session, we’ll show how to set yourself up for success with a solid HA/DR strategy to achieve your goals without the devops headache.

Bio:
Danica began her career as a software engineer in data visualization and warehousing with a business intelligence team where she served as a point-person for standards and best practices in data visualization across her company. In 2018, Danica moved to San Francisco and pivoted to backend engineering with a derivatives data team which was responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure that processes millions of financial market data per second in near real-time. Her first project on this team involved Kafka Streams – she never looked back. Danica now works as a Developer Advocate with Confluent where she helps others get the most out of their event-driven pipelines.
