What we’re about
Calling all DPOs, privacy officers, privacy operations managers, privacy legal experts and others with a professional interest in how companies and organisation rise to the challenge of executing privacy! We need to meet up to share best practice and experience in learning how to meet the evolving expectations of "data subjects", regulators and other key stakeholders.
At each meeting we will
a) have a quick group discussion of the biggest privacy-related events of the last month (e.g. the Google ruling from CNIL), chaired by the meet-up leader (nominated in advance)
b) invite a speaker from within the membership (or an invited guest) each week to present for 20 mins on either how their organisation has coped so far and where they're going next...and also take questions
c) followed by a trip - for those who wish it - to a local bar for some refreshments and some amusing conversation.
Meeting itself should be no more than 60-90 mins in length.
The group will require new members to confirm their actual professional involvement in privacy execution. If you're not already known to us, that process may involve us asking you for your work email address and us using it to confirm your bona fides. The email address will not be used for any other purpose without your consent.
Finally, we want this to be an open and honest dialogue about privacy and GDPR execution and that means we need some rules! We propose that the group will work on Chatham House rules. In summary: it will fine for you to tell others what you learned at the meeting, but not who you learned it from or the name of their employer. And please don't bring others to the meeting unless they are members.
