18.00 - 18.30 "Python combined with legacy code" by Sunniva Indrehus, Scientific Developer at NGI

Legacy codes that are not desirable to rewrite or refactor can be extremely painful for the modern developer. With a use case from the French glass industry, we will see how the simplicity of python can be combined with the speed of Fortran. Can we have it all?

18.45 - 19.15 "Dependency management" by Ida Norderhaug Drøsdal, Developer at NGI

We will look at how to isolate dependencies using virtual environments, ensuring reproducibility by locking dependency versions, and how to do dependency resolution. We will look at a few different tools for dependency management. E.g. venv, virtualenv, pipenv and poetry.
