Oslo F# is again returning to NRK for an evening of talks, thrills and all things F#!

This time, we have the following speakers lined up:

  • Lars Thomas Denstad will talk about Koru, a new functional language of his own creation, lightly inspired by F#.
  • Vagif Abilov will talk about Event sourcing with persistent actors. We have been long using the actor model at NRK, and persistent actors have proven to be especially useful to implement event sourcing. We will have a quick look at the source code (of course in F#!) and event journals for a system responsible for media file distribution.
  • Dag Brattli will talk about Fable.Actor, a cross-platform Actor library for F# / Fable that works on .NET, Python, JS and BEAM.

In addition to talks, there will be pizza, soft drinks, and after the meetup concludes, we'll trek to the closest bar, for beers and other beverages.

The auditorium we're using at NRK is set up for multi camera recording, so if any speakers wish to have a talk recorded in time for the conference CfP-season, this is the event to attend. Have a look at the previous recordings if you’re interested in seeing how the recordings might turn out: https://youtu.be/Ct1MoqyOrHI?si=4Z6NOp-m8XEuUKxq

Attendance at NRK is at the reception in the TV-building (NRK TV-resepsjonen: https://maps.app.goo.gl/YkwkZKCsVpPUMU1o7), not to be confused with the reception in the radio building (Radioresepsjonen NRK). Due to the security procedures at NRK, all attendants will be registered and given nametags when entering the TV-reception. We’ll try to pre-print nametags for everyone before you arrive, in order to speed up the process. In addition we’ll have a representative from Oslo F# present at the reception from 5:15 PM to 5:45, to great and help you if needed.

PS: The closest bar bar is Café Marienlyst, and the table is booked under the name Teodor.
