OpenStreetMap Bus Mapathon

Details
Get on the BUS! Or get run over. Well, not exactly. But Monday August 7th from 4-8pm, OpenStreetMap US is holding a bus mapathon (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mapathon/US_Summer_Mapathon_2017) and we invite the NYC community to come participate.
Take your closest (and operating) New York State of Emergency subway or the more sophisticated bus system to the Spatial Analysis and Visualization Initiative (https://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=40.69169372320175&mlon=-73.96490156650543#map=18/40.69169/-73.96490) (SAVI) at Pratt Institute anytime between 4 and 8pm to learn about how to map in OpenStreetMap. If you mind the gap and see something, say something etc, we’ll have pizza, computers and bus routes for your mapping pleasure.
We’ll also have on hand experts to teach you the intricacies of making the best and most open map in the world. So this is a great time to learn about OpenStreetMap and contribute to our ever-evolving map. Our OpenStreetMap experts include:
Eric Brelsford [@ebrelsford (https://twitter.com/ebrelsford)] a freelance web developer, map-maker, and professor with a passion for community-driven maps, data and.. 🚌 🚌 🚌 🚌.! He’ll come prepared with teaching materials (maybe even a powerpoint) to help make you the best OpenStreetMap editor and a bus pro.
Janine Yoong [@janineyoong (https://twitter.com/janineyoong)] of street-level Mapillary (https://www.mapillary.com/) fame, will help demonstrate how 📷 🚌 and OpenStreetMaps (aka 🗺️ ) can all fit together. There is air conditioning on the bus and easy-to-use Mapillary+OSM tutorials (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Bus_Mapathon/guide#Mapillary) to help you get started
We’re lucky to have Bryan Housel [@bhousel (https://twitter.com/bhousel)] the core engineer behind iD Editor (http://ideditor.com/) -- THE OpenStreetMap tool -- in our backyard. True his backyard is in New Jersey, but bus mapping of the entire tri-state area is still encouraged. Bryan will be in The Big Apple to answer ALL your questions about editing in OpenStreetMap...because he wrote it.
And Alyssa Wright will be there, [@alyssapwright (https://twitter.com/alyssapwright)] your US Board President of OpenStreetMap and a regular contributor to OpenStreetMap community and transit systems. I’ll be able to answer bus questions, pizza questions, OpenStreetMap questions, and all upcoming State of the Map US (https://2017.stateofthemap.us/) (you should come!) questions.
So come with your questions about OpenStreetMap to our bus mapathon. New York City buses are great and need to be better mapped. And our NYC geo community is great and lucky to have so much OpenStreetMap expertise on-hand (or in the tri-state area 😜 ).
Come contribute to the map with some of the best leaders in the space. We hope to see you there.
