Makamah County Nature Preserve - 3.65 mi. - Fort Salonga

This is easy to moderate 3.65 mi. trail is one of my favorites on Long Island. Trails are hilly and winding at times. Lots of foliage, streams, wetlands and a pond. We also skirt the Crab Meadow Golf Course

When you arrive in the parking lot, look for me holding my sign-in clipboard standing near my big red pickup truck.
For this hike, I recommend shorts or long pants and hiking shoes with good treads. Water to keep hydrated and, if you like, a snack to keep you energized. it's getting to be that time of year so bug spray is also recommended.

New attendees to my Spring thru Summer hiking season are required to pay a $5.00 semi-annual fee to cover my planning, preparation and Meetup.com's exorbitant fees. This fee will cover you for all future hikes up through August 2025.
