### WHAT IS THE EVENT ABOUT

This is an online event in which participants get paired 1-on-1 randomly and anonymously to talk for 15-minutes in a voice chat room (no camera, only audio).
We are looking to collect casual conversation, so just come as yourself, engage in conversation and have fun.
No need for any experience or preparation, we only ask you to use headphones and microphone, and sit in a quiet environment.

Here is what we expect of participants:
- Fluent in English (dialects, accents OK)
- Speak clearly, use microphone and headphones.
- Engage in conversation about the given topic (Tuesday: Specific topic | Sunday: free topic)

Please note: The conversations are recorded and will potentially be used for AI training, which is the reason we will compensate participants.
Join only if you are comfortable with this.

### TOPIC SCHEDULE

Depending on the day you participate, there may be certain topics we want you to talk about.

Tuesdays: Product feedback.
→ You and your conversation partner are presented a random product or service and will talk about its aspects and your opinions of it. There will be suggested questions such as "Would you personally use this? Why/why not?" and "What problem does this product solve?".

Sundays: Free topic.
→ Any topics are allowed. You can talk about anything from work, hobbies, new ideas to recent news, arts & culture and etc.
→ Please note that there are suggested topics that you can choose to talk about (e.g. “Choose one social media app to delete together”), but any topics that don’t involve personal, sensitive information is allowed.

### HOW TO JOIN

Here is how to join:
1. Before the event starts, please make an account by signing up on our voice chat website: https://app.oto.earth/rooms (takes appr. 5 minutes)

2. When the event starts (Tuesday/Sunday), please click "join room" and wait to be paired with another participant.
(Note: Please sit somewhere quiet and use headphones and microphone)

3. Talk with your session partner.

4. When done with your 15 minute session, you can join your next session and be paired anew.

### HOW YOU GET PAID

We pay $4 USD per. finished 15 minute session.
That means, during the two hours of the event, you can earn up to $32 USD per. event.

### FAQ - Frequently asked questions.

→ Is this real? How can I know that this is legitimate?
Yes, it is 100% real.
We are an AI voice start-up that was founded in Tokyo, Japan (but now based in San Francisco, California), and we regularly host voice sessions, where participants can be paid to talk. The reason we do this is because we are on a mission to develop the next-generation voice AI, and we need data of recordings of people conversing naturally.
Please also note that your voice and conversation will be recorded when participating in our sessions, and potentially be used to develop AI.

→ I am unsure how this works. How can I join?
This is a regular event where participants get to join voice session 1-on-1 and get paid to have 15-minute talks with someone else.
It is held for US residents Tuesdays and Sundays (7-9 PM (PST)) in the evening every week.

Your name and info will be hidden to the other users on our platform, so you will be anonymous when talking. On certain days, there will be given topics that we want you to talk about (Tuesdays) and other days you can talk freely about any topic (Sundays).
All you need is to chat with someone else - and we pay you for it.

→ How do I get paid? What if I don’t use PayPal?
Currently, we only do payouts through PayPal. Since we don’t offer payment through any other channels at the moment, we ask you to make a PayPal account in order to receive your payment.
After the sessions, you can receive your payment under the Payout-page on our platform (https://app.oto.earth/payout).

→ Why are the conversations recorded? What if I accidentally mention something private?
oto is a platform designed to collect voice datasets for next-generation voice AI.
There is currently a lack of natural conversation data, which is why we have created this platform.
By joining our sessions and having your voice and conversation recorded, you are helping building one of the most advanced voice AI’s that can give a voice to those who struggle to speak, make multitasking easier for busy people, and enable new communication tools worldwide.

If you accidentally say something you don’t want to be part of the recording, it is possible to delete the last 10 seconds of the conversation when in the session.

→ I am not located in The United states. Can I still join?
Unfortunately, at the current time, the chatrooms are only available for US residents. This is due to delay occurrences in audio if located too far away.
We also do sessions for residents of Japan (temporarily unavailable) - please click here if you are located in Japan.
We are working on expanding to other countries as well, so please stay tuned.

→ I had a great talk session with the other person. Is it possible to stay in touch afterwards?
Yes! We have a new function that lets you add the other person as a friend, where you can also continue to message each other afterwards. You are welcome to add each other on other platforms (Discord, Instagram, etc.) as well after the session.
