Future walk #3 - Automation: what happens if jobs disappear?

Details

Join us for a friendly discussion about the future!

This is a 'walking discussion', meaning we meet at Confederation park, do intros and provide a short overview/backgrounder on the topic, and then get walking and talking!

This event's topic: Automation. So far the dire predictions of job losses to technology have proven mostly unfounded. But if the software and machines keep getting rapidly better and humans progress more slowly, there remains at least in theory the chance that our work will no longer be needed. Is that a good thing? What would we do with our lives?

Lots to talk about so take a break from your computer, dress warmly, put on your thinking cap, and come meet and challenge fellow Ottawans on this all-important topic. See you there!

COVID-19 safety measures

Masks required
Event will be outdoor
Due to Omicron, this will be both outdoors and masked. If the group gets too large, we will split into smaller ones. Walking, talking and smiling is still welcome!
The event host is instituting the above safety measures for this event. Meetup is not responsible for ensuring, and will not independently verify, that these precautions are followed.
